Causes Of Acne

An exact cause of acne has never been discovered, it is believed to be several interrelated factors that can cause acne. These factors are not only external factors but also internal.

Here is a list of internal and external factors which can cause acne.

Make Up/Skin-Care Products
Comedogenic skin care products cause irritation to the skin aswell as clogging of the pores. Some skin-care products which are made for acne can actually make the condition worse because the product is very harsh on the skin which will cause irritation.

Stress
Although stress isn't a direct cause of acne and pimples, it will aggrevate it. This is because stress leads to an increase in androgen levels, which affects your sebaceous glands.

Diet
Even though dermatologists aren't exactly certain that what you eat will cause acne but a good healthy diet will promote good healthy skin.

Hormones
Acne can be caused by hormonal imbalances. There are hormonal imbalances/changes during stress, menstruation, pregnancy and teenage years. That is why around 85% of teenagers will experience acne or pimples when they are growing up.

Bacteria
Bacteria is a big contributor to acne and pimples. Propionibacterium acnes is a bacteria which causes acne. The bacteria will typically live on the skin and create enzymes which dissolve oil into the skin, this irritates the skin and causes inflammation.

So to get rid of your acne and keep it away, I recommened these 3 simple steps.
1. Cut down on the use of makeup, get rid of it all together if you can.
2. Keep your skin clean. (Remove dead skin cells, unplug your pores, kill acne causing bacteria).
3. Eat a good healthy diet and drink heaps of water.
